Breast Swelling Treatment in Nanded

Breast Swelling and Breast Cancer Treatment at Hambarde Urocare, Nanded.

What is breast swelling?

Breast swelling and tenderness is common for almost all women in the second half of their menstrual cycle. Breast swelling and tenderness in the premenstrual portion of your cycle can be mild to severe. Milk ducts in the breast are enlarged by the increase of estrogen production at certain points during your menstrual cycle. Estrogen production generally reaches its peak just prior to the middle of your cycle. Your breast lobules, the milk glands, are stimulated to grow by an increase of progesterone, which reaches its peak around day 21 of a 28-day cycle.

Breast swelling symptoms that may occur along with benign processes

Breast swelling may accompany the presence of benign breast tumors, such as papillomas and fibroadenomas, along with other symptoms including:

  • Breast deformity or misshapen breast
  • Breast lump
  • Breast pain
  • Nipple discharge or tenderness

Breast cancer

Overview

Breast cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the tissues of the breast. These malignant cells usually form in the lobules or the ducts. Breast cancer can affect both men and women. Breast cancer has become the number one cancer among women in metropolitan cities in India. The cases are rapidly rising, with 1 in 25-30 urban women likely to suffer from breast cancer during their lifetime. This is much lower than the US (1 in 8 women) or UK (1 in 12 women). However, it is much higher than that in rural India (1 in 70 women). The other disturbing fact is that it is rising in the younger age group (between 35 - 45 years).

Breast Cancer Symptoms

The early symptoms of breast cancer can vary in nature and extent. This makes it all the more important for women, particularly those who are at high risk, to regularly self-examine and consult their personal physicians.

Some common early signs of breast cancer include –
  • Presence of a lump or a hardened area in or around the breast
  • Changes in the appearance of the breast tissue, such as changes in shape or size
  • Pain, swelling, or soreness in and around the breast area
  • The appearance of a rash or a patch of skin that looks different from the rest of the breast area, or around the areola
  • Pitting, dimpling, or any change of the skin over the breast
  • Inversion of the nipple; blood or any other discharge from the nipple
  • Pain or presence of an enlarged node under the arms
